SaunaLogic Buyer Guide
The Home Sauna Buyer’s Checklist
A home sauna is a four-figure purchase that lives in your house for a decade. Run every item below before you order and delivery day will be boring — which is exactly what you want.
1 — Electrical (the #1 delivery-day surprise)
- Confirm the exact power requirement on the product page. The 2-person Sun Home Equinox lists 120V on a 20A dedicated circuit; larger cabins and most outdoor models need 240V.
- Walk to your panel and check for a free breaker slot. No free slot means an electrician visit before the sauna can run.
- A dedicated circuit means nothing else on that breaker — sharing with a fridge or treadmill trips it mid-session.
- Budget $150–$600 for an electrician if you need a new dedicated circuit, more for a 240V run across the house.
2 — Space and placement
- Measure the room height, not just the floor: cabins typically need 75–80 inches of clearance plus 2–4 inches above.
- Check the delivery path — every doorway, stair turn, and hallway the crated panels must pass through. Crates are wider than the assembled wall panels.
- Leave at least 2 inches of air gap behind the sauna for ventilation; never push a cabin flush against a cold exterior wall.
- Outdoor models need a level, drained base (concrete pad or reinforced deck) and a cover rated for your winters.
3 — Heat and EMF claims
- Full-spectrum means near + mid + far infrared emitters; far-only is cheaper and still effective for sweat sessions — decide which you are paying for.
- For low-EMF claims, ask for the measurement report: readings in milligauss (mG) at seat distance, not just the word "low-EMF" in marketing.
- Carbon-ceramic hybrid panels heat more evenly than rod heaters; check the panel layout diagram covers your back and calves.
4 — Warranty, returns, financing
- Read what the warranty covers per component: Sun Home lists 7 years on cabinetry and heaters, 3 years on controls — other brands differ widely.
- Confirm the return window and who pays return freight on a 400 lb crate — this is where "free shipping" gets asymmetric.
- If financing, check the real APR on the financing provider's disclosure (e.g. Affirm), not the "as low as" banner.
5 — Before you click buy
- Screenshot the product page price and promo code the day you order.
- Confirm the current lead time in writing — sale periods stretch delivery by weeks.
- If any answer above is unknown, email the merchant support first; response quality is itself a signal of post-sale service.
